Mr. John Claude Dixon

March 17, 1930 - January 31, 2017

A life we love quietly and peacefully slipped away on Monday, January 30, 2017 to be with the Lord. John Claude Dixon was born April 17, 1930 in Abbeville County, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late James and Carrie Epps Dixon. He was a faithful life member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church where he serves as a Trustee, Treasurer, Ordained Deacon for forty years and a member of the Mass and Men’s Choirs. Deacon Dixon graduated from Gantt High School and joined the United States Army where he served as a Sergeant in Germany for 3 years. He completed Westside Vocational School where he earned a Degree in Cabinetry. He then was employed by CSX Railroad Transportation where he later retired after 37 years of service. Deacon Dixon was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Ethel Mae Thompson Dixon, in 1951; they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in August. He leaves to cherish loving memories his wife of the home, one son, T.S. Thompson of Honea Path, S.C., daughters, Carrie Jane (Jim) long of Honea Path, S.C., Gesile (Marty) White of Columbia, S.C., daughter-in-law, Patricia Dixon of Townville, S.C., sister, Emma Dollie McClinton Thompson of Mauldin, S.C., two brothers, Randolph Dixon of Belton, S.C. and Henry (Ruby) Dixon of Honea Path, S.C.; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, 1:00 P.M., at Dunn Creek Baptist Church, Ware Shoals, S.C. with burial in the church cemetery. Family visitation 12:30-1:00 P.M. The family is at the residence of Jane Long, 346 Oak Tree Drive, Honea Path, S.C
