Mrs. Glenda Dizzley Jefferson

Sister Glenda Dizzley Jefferson, Age 76 of 109 Burr Drive, Belton, SC. inherited her heavenly home and entered eternal rest on December 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 6, 1945 to the late James and Margaret G. Dizzley in Bishopville, SC. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Benedict College, Columbia, SC. During her 30 plus years tenure as an educator in Lee County and Anderson School District #2. She taught 2nd grade at Dennis Primary and 5-8th grade at Geer Gantt High School and Honea Path Middle School respectively. Glenda was an active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served as Sunbeam Leader, Sunday School teacher, Missionary President and a Deaconess. In 2018, she was awarded Missionary Woman of the Year. She organized and co-chaired Mt. Zion After-School Program. She loved, loved children and wanted them to do well. She was a Charter Member of the Anderson, SC Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She served as President, Vice President, Co-Chairperson and Age Group Chair. She was a member of the Benedict Alumni Club, Member of the Retired Teacher Association. She worked with the Blue Ridge Council of Scouting for twenty plus years. She was a Cub Scout Leader, Commissioner and received The District Merit Leader Award. She was also the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award (the high level for an adult). She was affectionately known as Momma, MomMom, Grandma, MaGlenda, Aunt Glenda and Glenda to so many. Glenda’s survivors include: Her loving husband, Walter Lee Jefferson, her children, Latondra (Les) Lathon, Datrick (Tomika) Jefferson, and Tammy Harkness. Six grandchildren, Jonathan, Faith, Jazmine, Justin, Zyen and Datrick. Two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Joseph Galloway and Josiah Matthew Harkness. Siblings, Betty Addison, Cynthia (Willie) Davis, James E. (Linda) Dizzley and Russell (Gracie) Dizzley. In-laws, Willie Ann (Willie C.) Scott, Dorothy Ukpabi, and Jeff (Lucy) Jefferson. Host of nieces and nephews. God-Children, Nikki Myers, Akeem Dizzley, Brennen McAllister, Dianna Robinson and Kayla McGee. Adoptive Families: Annette Jenkins, Lawrence Daniel, Marion (James) Robinson, Kenneth (Mercedes) Dean, Robert (Linda) Sitton, Tyrone (Michele) Sitton and Annette Breazeale, Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, foster brother, Leroy Hannible, granddaughter Bailee Jefferson, Nieces Erika Worthy and Lisa Martin. Brother-in-Laws Thomas Jefferson and David Addison. Celebration of Life for Glenda Dizzley Jefferson will be held Friday at 1:00P.M. Mt. Zion Baptist Church, burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be Thursday from 11:00-7:00P.M. at the Funeral Home. Holloway's Funeral Home of Belton is in charge of arrangements. The family is at the home.
