Mrs. Carolyn Burn

Carolyn Jones Burns, age 87 of 245 Hales Drive, Anderson S.C. entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House. She was a native of Marion Indiana and was born September 13, 1936, to the late Thomas Jones and Thelma Davis Jones. She was a graduate of Chrispus Attucks High School in Indiana. She lived the greatest part of her life in Indiana where she met and married her husband the late Reverend Paul Sylvester Burns. She and her husband moved to Anderson S.C. and became a member of Welfare Baptist Church where she attended regular and taught Sunday School. She was a former member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Indiana. Mrs. Burns was also a member of the Department of Defense in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she maintained the role of Admiral’s Secretary. Retiring after 20 years, she went on to become a licensed foster mother in Indianapolis where she fostered more than 30 young children of all ages. She spent countless years creating a platform for children to have a safe, secure, and spiritual upbringing. She obtained Mother of the Year for three consecutive years and received an honorary certificate of excellence from the mayor of Indianapolis, Indiana. She lived out her life believing God has made it possible for all to come to his saving Grace through Jesus Christ. Her second grace was to the children and serving in the church as choir director. Also, Mrs. Burns was a youth coordinator and a Sunday school teacher. She leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter Deonna Burns Anderson S.C. Sons, Michael Alexander of Chicago, IL, Brian Burns of Indianapolis, Indiana, Daniel Burns of Utha, Steven Burns of Anderson SC, Ervin Burns of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Naaman Burns of Greenville S.C. She was preceded in death by her husband (Rev. Paul Burns) one daughter Evelyn Miles Burns and a sister Dwendolyn Alexander. Sons, Derick Alexander, Robbie Burns, Nehman Burns, David Burns, and Andray Burns Funeral service will be held at the Salem Presbyterian Church 1100 Dolley Street on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at noon with the burial at MJ Dolly Cooper Veteran Cemetery, Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. The viewing will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Foggie- Holloway Funeral Home 1222 South Main Street, Anderson S.C.
